I'm a total bee-otch!

Wow.

So, I take a walk to the FedEx down at the hospital to drop off a ground package. I walk in and a "service" agent comes up to me, not saying anything. I handed him my package, which I knew wasn't in a ground package, and he immediately told me, " You have to buy a yellow envelope. You can't ship ground in a express envelope."

Hmmm....

If only he smiled at me at the door, then my wrath wouldn't have opened up on him.

"I'm not buying anything," I replied as I stuck my hand out for my package. "Thank you," then I proceeded to strut out of the premises. Yes, I strutted.

I need to stop listening to Brittany Spears before entering retail establishments. Her attitude seems to be rubbing off.

Tumors

Uncle Buck and I enjoyed a brisk fall day in Mystic, CT. wandering through the Olde Mistick Village.

You know that bear's probably covered in lice...

The one thing that the brisk, fall weather provides for us is spectacular sunsets.

Cold but beautiful.

And apparently, ducks with huge head tumors.

"It's not a tumor!"

Ain't Nothin' Gonna Break Our Strides!

As most of you know, I'm captain of Team Eternal 'Glo', a walking team for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign in RI in honor of my grandmother, Gloria, who died of the disease in October 1990. This year, despite economic times and our usual supporters not supporting us, we still raised $1046 dollars! Not too shabby!

And despite kicking off the morning with a car that died on the way to the walk, the day still ended up being absolutely amazing and crazy fun. NukeBoy was thrilled to get that frantic call at 6:30 AM to come jump my car.

Our team was small this year, but still a force to be reckon with.

However, this year we had a newbie join our ranks. "Nad's" mother is a cancer survivor, and we were thrilled to have him along. This new dynamic made for an intense car ride to breakfast, but more on that later.

It was one of those perfect fall days in New England with not a cloud in the sky and perfect foliage.

Even though we arrived later than usual, the park was still packed with walkers. Who can blame them? The day was gorgeous and warm!

Holla' back, y'all!

Uncle Buck displayed his fashion savvy sporting a running suit and hat from the Run DMC collection.

The rest of the team opted for a simple jeans and t-shirt look.

This guy comes here every year to make balloon animals for the kids. We totally took advantage of our kid-like-state and had pink ribbon balloons made for your heads. We're crazy like that.

And so is Aunt Sissy. And yes, we pronounce it ANT.

This year we had live bands, which were fun. I love live classic rock. Here pictured are the Aviators. Pretty talented group of fellas.

All in all, a great day to be had.

Oh yeah, the ride to breakfast. It's great having a person with you that knows the lyrics to any TV sitcom from the 70's and 80's. Even better: having your mom do her Jean Stapleton impression along with Nad's Carroll O'Connor. Where's the video camera when you need it. YouTube is missing out.

Poultry Carnage

Most Rho-Deye-landahs know of or have eaten at Wright's Chicken Farm.

Back in the day, they actually used to have chickens on site, but that has since gone by the wayside and all their poultry gets shipped in. All that's left is this 8-foot chicken statue on the roof of a warehouse out back.

And in classic Rho-Deye-land fashion, security has to be high for this lovely lady. Check it: TWO security cameras monitoring the comings and goings around said statue. Are they really worried about vandals or do they think this bird comes to life at night? I believe the latter. Like any sexy chick, come 10 o'clock, she's hitting the clubs. But wait...

Is that a comb I see?

Oh, and yes, those are definitely sickles.

I believe our lovely lady is actually a chanticleer! Oh, the horror! Well, I still think he goes out on the town each night, hitting clubs, picking up on chicks, striking out, and coming back here to roost and contemplate each night's events wondering where in the world his life has gone and what it all means. Is he forever to be alone on his perch overlooking his non-existent flock? Sad; so very sad.

Meanwhile, on the inside, it's rows and rows of tables and the ensuing eating frenzy.

Yous gotchur shells and sauce.
Yous gotchur french fries.
Yous gotchur salad.
Yous gotchur rolls.

And most definitely, yous gotchur chicken. Never ending bowls of everything until you explode and they slop up your remains and dump you in your car to go home. This place moves and moves fast. Plates and bowls of food come at you at a dizzying pace. You don't know what's hit you until you're at home covered in chicken grease with dribbles of pasta sauce on your chin confused and dazed. And full; so very, very full.

And dear all mighty, you can take it home.

Nana, You'll Be Missed!

Saturday morning I received a call from my dad that my Nana had passed away. She had been battling cancer.

All I remember of her is her spunk and her fire and her Chihuahuas.

Check out that dancing diva.

This is the last memory I have of my Nana on one of the happiest days of my life. Sassy!

Divorce has a way of drifting family apart. I just wish I had more time with her.

What the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks Happened to My Hostas!

Upon mowing my lawn Saturday (on our brand new lawn tractor!), I did the loop around Yard Bouldah and was stunned to find this.

All of the leaves on my hostas had been ripped off. Or, most likely, chewed off.

And whoever it was, they were picky. They'll eat these hostas, but not my Maraschino Cherry hostas in the front.

All I have left are green shoots.

It's like a crew cut around Yard Bouldah.

NukeBoy has been given the "go" for open season in the yard. We may be eating venison all winter.
